The Infrastructure-Automotive Technology Laboratory (iATL) is the first facility in the world where automakers and transportation infrastructure manufacturers can work together to create and test connected vehicle technology with smart traffic infrastructure in a real street environment.

The iATL was established to make ordinary people’s travel safer and more reliable through connected vehicle technology. We encourage innovators to test connected vehicle technology in a real street environment, with all the challenges and obstructions that the real world brings.
The iATL worked with bus manufacturers and connected vehicle experts to give Fulton County, GA school buses green lights at intersections, helping children reach school quickly and safely.
Cycling in groups gives riders the opportunity to socialize, exercise, and travel sustainably. Dealing with motor vehicles on the road, however, can be stressful and even dangerous. The iATL worked with the developers of the TravelSafely app to give green lights at intersections to cyclists riding in groups in over 500 cities, so they can reach their destination safely and efficiently.
